Meet Andy
Andy is a stay-at-home dad of two middle-school-aged daughters, a longtime youth coach, and a former Scarborough School District employee — running to bring a family's-eye view to a board that already works well together.

- IEP parent. His oldest daughter has a disability and receives support services at school, so Andy has spent plenty of time navigating the IEP process.
- Sports, clubs, and chorus parent. His younger daughter went through Scarborough schools from kindergarten through fifth grade. She is now in middle school in the district where her mom teaches.
- Married to a teacher. His wife teaches in a nearby district, which gives him another view of daily life in a public school.
He brings one question to every decision: what is best for the kids?
Why I'm running
- Scarborough has a collaborative board and schools this town can be proud of. I'm not running because something is broken.
- I'm running because I'm fortunate to have the time to invest in something this important.
- I've seen district policy from two sides: as an employee working under it, and as a parent working through it right now.
- I know where the language gets confusing and where families may get stuck.
- Asking questions is the job. It's how good boards get to good decisions.

My priorities
My top three priorities are kids, parents, and teachers. Every policy has to work for all three.
All three, every time
Good decisions start with the people closest to students. Kids, parents, and teachers each need a seat in the conversation.
Plain language
Policies that are accessible, transparent, and written so any family can read them and know where they stand.
A culture that includes
Strengthen a school culture where kids are encouraged, teachers are given what they need, and parents are always positioned as partners in their kids' journey through the district.

You may not have a child in our schools, but you help pay for them. You deserve a school board member who treats that money with care.
As a homeowner, I am committed to fiscal discipline. I will be your steward on the school board, making sure every dollar is focused on classroom achievement, while keeping Scarborough affordable for everyone.
Where I stand
Bell to Bell, No Cell I support it
It's officially law. We must find a way to implement the ban that works best for each age group and school. The state set the framework, and our job locally is to make it work: clear expectations, workable routines, and restorative responses when kids slip up, not just punishment. And we should teach kids the reasoning behind the ban.
Education technology Use it well
I'm not automatically for or against classroom technology. I am in favor of using the right tools for the right reasons. Let's follow the research and the data, and ask teachers for their input, while always keeping students, teachers, and human connection at the center.
Extracurriculars They're essential
For a lot of kids, music, art, sports, and clubs are the reason to show up every day. I've coached long enough to know the kid who struggles in third period can be a leader at 3:30. After-school activities aren't extras to trim when the budget gets tight — they're key to keeping kids engaged and motivated to learn.
My promise
I'll listen before I decide. I'll do the homework. I'll work to keep policy in language families can follow. I'll ask the questions that need asking, and work with my fellow board members to get to good answers. And I'll judge every decision the same way: what's best for the kids.
